Yoga Classes Are Coming Back to Collenbrook!

We are excited to announce that Yoga Classes will resume in September! Our Secretary, Danielle, will begin teaching Yoga Classes in the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Danielle discovered her love of yoga a couple years ago and decided to pursue yoga certification so she could share her love of yoga with as many people as possible. She began her training in March and was preparing to start applying at local studios or fitness centers when she learned that the yoga classes at the church were coming to an end. Danielle is super excited for the opportunity to teach at the Church that she calls her home away from home.

Danielle will complete her Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher 200-hour Certification (RYT-200) at the end of August and will jump right in to teaching here at Collenbrook. Her goal is to someday open her own brick and mortar studio, but until that time comes, she will be utilizing the space in our building.

She will be teaching her first Still class at the studio where she is training, Sojourn Yoga in Drexel Hill, on Wednesday, August 18th at 6:00 p.m. This class is only $5. She will then teach her first Yin class on Wednesday, August 21st, at 6:00 p.m. This is a donation-based class, meaning the class is FREE but donations are welcomed and will be going to the charity of Danielle’s choice; and she has chosen Collenbrook’s Community Dinners! Keep in mind that space is limited at Sojourn, so if you would like to attend these classes, registration is important. To register, please visit and scroll down to the “Summer of Giving” section to register for the August 21st class, or the regular class schedule to register for the Still class. The link will go up one week before the classes, so be sure to mark your calendar. She will also email everyone the link to register once it is available.

Additionally, Danielle will also be pursuing certification in Chair Yoga, Kids/Teens Yoga, and Prenatal Yoga, and intends to pursue the RYT-500 certification within a year or two!

The website is already live at, and she will be launching the Mind Body Studio software to the website by September, where you will be able to register an account to log in and sign up for classes, as well as purchase memberships and 10 class passes. The website will text updates when classes are cancelled due to weather or other circumstances, send newsletters, and more. Be sure to visit the website in September to create your user account so you can stay up-to-date on all things yoga class related!

We are very excited to have yoga classes available in the building again, and hope to see you in class!

BASICS CLASS – Suitable for all levels of experience, the Basics class is specific to those new to yoga.  Basic yoga poses (asanas) are introduced and variations are explored to establish a foundation of yoga study. Each class is slightly different to provide a wider variety of modifications and variations that can be used in your practice.

STILL CLASS – Suitable for all levels, the Still class is excellent for both the beginner and the advanced yogi. Still is a series of asanas (poses) that help stabilize muscles from the ground up to improve balance and promote proper alignment, while developing an understanding of each pose.

FLOW CLASS – Suitable for all levels, but a bit more challenging. The Flow class, also known as Vinyasa, is a faster paced class with repetitive movements, and integrates movement and breath as you transition from one pose to another.

YIN CLASS – Suitable for all levels of experience, Yin yoga focuses on holding seated, prone, and supine poses for a longer duration. The primary purpose of Yin Yoga is to release tension in ligaments, tendons, and fascia, increasing blood circulation to joints and improving flexibility.

SUNRISE YOGA – Monday-Friday at 6:00 a.m.

SUNSET YOGA – Monday-Thursday at 6:00 p.m. (occasional Fridays as schedule permits)(The 2nd Tuesday of the month class will be at 5:45pm, and the last Thursday of the month there will be no evening class).
